Underground Lineman – Dynetek Solutions, Tulsa Oklahoma
Position Overview
The Underground Lineman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground electrical distribution systems that support Dynetek’s utility and infrastructure projects in the Tulsa Oklahoma area. This role works as part of a field crew to safely construct and maintain underground power and communication facilities in residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair underground electrical power lines, transformers, pedestals, junction boxes, terminations, and related equipment.
Perform new construction, maintenance, and emergency restoration on energized and deenergized underground distribution systems following company and utility standards.
Read and interpret blueprints, underground layouts, as-builts, and staking sheets to plan and execute work.
Safely operate and work around equipment such as excavators, trenchers, vacuum excavation trucks, cable pulling equipment, and compactors
Locate, troubleshoot, and repair faults in underground cable systems, terminations, and splices
Install and maintain conduits, duct banks, handholes, manholes, and ground grids per project specifications.
Perform switching, tagging, testing, and grounding operations as qualified and in accordance with safety procedures and utility requirements.
Set up and maintain safe work zones, including traffic control, barricades, signs, and job-site housekeeping.
Complete job documentation, material usage, and as-built information accurately and on time.
Work collaboratively with foremen, supervisors, groundmen, drill crews, and other linemen to meet schedule and quality expectations.
Participate in safety meetings, tailboards, and ongoing safety training; consistently comply with OSHA, DOT, utility, and Dynetek safety policies.
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or GED
Graduate of an accredited lineman apprenticeship/program or equivalent underground distribution experience.
Demonstrated experience working on underground electric distribution systems (URD) or underground utility construction.
Valid Class A or B CDL, or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe (company policy).
Strong understanding of electrical theory, underground construction practices, and safe work methods around energized systems.Preferred:
Previous experience working in Florida utility/contracting environments or with investorowned utilities and coops
Familiarity with Tampa-area utility standards and local permitting/ROW requirements.
Skills & Competencies
Strong commitment to safety and adherence to procedures in highrisk environments.
Ability to work in trenches, manholes, and confined spaces, and in all weather conditions common to Tampa, Florida (heat, humidity, rain).
Proficient with hand tools and power tools used in underground line work, including cable cutters, crimpers, hydraulic tools, fusion tools, and test equipment.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, oneline diagrams, and utility standards.
Strong teamwork, communication, and problemsolving skills.
Physical Requirements
Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 50–75 pounds
Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in trenches and confined spaces for extended periods.
Work outdoors daily in varying weather and site conditions typical of the Tulsa Oklahoma region.
Location & Schedule
Location: Tulsa Oklahoma (field-based role; travel to various job sites in the region).
Status: Full-time, nonexempt (overtime and storm/emergency work as required).
