- Plumbing Inspector
Description
Under general supervision, inspects the construction, repair, and alteration of structures and grounds to ensure compliance with plumbing, gas, and mechanical codes, laws, and regulations pertaining to the health, safety, and welfare of the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB TASKS: (Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions)
Conducts, and participates in the inspection of plumbing, gas, and mechanical construction, repair, and alteration activities to ensure compliance with approved permits, plans, specifications, and codes.
Advises contractors, property owners, and the public regarding law, code, and regulation compliance measures.
Maintains records of inspection activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
OTHER RELATED FACTORS:
Is occasionally exposed to the potential for injury when walking through structures during site evaluations.
Must wear proper protective equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of experience inspecting plumbing, mechanical, and gas construction for a local government.
Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license.
Requires possession of a Statewide Journeyman or Master Plumber license.
Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position.
