Leidos | Gibbs and Cox is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support various programs. We are seeking a candidate to work with our engineering and production teams as we develop and produce cutting-edge solutions to challenging defense-related problems. This position reports to the Gibbs & Cox Electrical Engineering Department Manager and interfaces with the SC SDE (Surface Combatant Ship Design Engineering) Design Team.Primary Responsibilities
- Develop the Combat Systems Distribution (CSD) system for US Navy ship programs.
- Work with vendors, PARMs, and the design team to define interfaces, power levels, and power quality for CSD supported systems.
- Determine power conversion requirements, switchboard and power management systems, bus transfer requirements and dead and dark ship restoration priorities.
- Work with the ship service distribution SMEs to ensure compatibility and coordination requirements between electrical distribution services.
- Engineer will be the Lead or Engineering Manager for this role.
- Essential responsibilities include: Performing calculations, applying electrical engineering principles, techniques, procedures, and criteria to address technical issues identified during the design and engineering of US Navy ships
- Communicating technical principles directly to client
- Performing quality assurance reviews of simple and complex analyses, calculations, and drawings
- Recording and tracking action items and meeting minutes
- Creating and managing meeting invites
- Review change proposals to ensure they meet the necessary specifications and requirements
Basic Qualifications
- BS Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field and 12+ years of experience.
- General knowledge of multi-disciplinary design from an integration aspect is extremely valuable, however the candidate is not expected to be the expert in these areas. They will coordinate studies and tasking with the appropriate Integrated Product Team (IPT).
- Required Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship is required
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance
- Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government.
- Experience with Shipyard Production Systems, Combat Systems, shipboard medium and low voltage power systems, 60 Hz and 400Hz electrical plant, and Power Conversion is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in standard electrical system design and analysis
- Proficiency in standard software e.g.: CAD, AutoCAD, and Rhino. Proficiency in ETAP and other electrical modeling software is a plus.
- Knowledge of MIL Standards and Specifications is a plus
- U.S. Navy experience is a plus
- Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and PowerPoint
- Outstanding Oral, Written and Presentation Skills

Pay Range:
Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
