Building Inspector
Cherokee County is seeking a Building Inspector to perform technical inspection work ensuring construction projects comply with applicable building codes and regulations. This position conducts field inspections of construction sites, documents inspection results, and communicates findings to contractors and property owners. Also, assists with office procedures and field work in property maintenance code issues. The Building Inspector provides guidance to contractors and the public regarding code requirements and assists with permitting and inspection processes within the department. Responsibilities also include maintaining inspection records, preparing reports, and supporting departmental operations to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Requirements
-High school diploma or GED supplemented by experience or training in building construction, inspection, or related field
-Experience in construction trade or building inspection preferred
-Knowledge of building construction practices, materials, and safety procedures
-Knowledge of building codes and inspection processes
-Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
-Strong organizational and documentation skills
-Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, builders, and the public
-Ability to perform field inspections and maintain accurate records
