Description

Seeking a Building Engineer for a multi-building portfolio located in Cherry Creek North.  The successful candidate will excel in general duties related to the day to day operations and maintenance of the facility, structure and equipment of a mixed use portfolio including Class A office and retail.  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to support the property team.  

Requirements

Essential Functions:

Must display strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills;
At the direction of the Lead Engineer, performs day-to-day operations and minor repairs to the facility, structure and equipment, including, but not limited to, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems, on and around the grounds of each of our properties, or refers complex maintenance and repair work to outside contractors as appropriate;
Completes preventative and general maintenance schedules for all building equipment;
Works with the Lead Engineer and Property Manager to maintain inventory of building supplies and materials, replenishing when necessary;
Inspects and maintains vacant units in each of the properties;
Accurately completes work orders and tenant requests through the work order system from start to finish, including progress comments, and complete summary when finished.
Provides on-call emergency support 24/7, on rotation with other property employees;
Assumes additional duties as assigned;
 

Support Functions:

In support of the Lead Engineer, arranges for sub-contractor access when needed
Assists with the implementation of contracts in place for preventative maintenance, insuring the completion of work, and identifying deficiencies
Possesses a working knowledge of building systems and provides repair and maintenance as needed in the following areas:
BAS systems - can provide minor adjustments as needed
Electrical systems – trouble shoot and complete replacement of outlets, switches, ballasts, circuit breakers, motors, etc. following OSHA safety procedures
HVAC systems - trouble shoots issues and is capable of replacing belts, motors, bearings, valves, etc.
Plumbing systems – performs replacement of basic components in sinks, urinals, toilets & water fountains; trouble shoots other plumbing issues
Life Safety systems (including high rise) – understands function of the system and responds to and identifies issues related to trouble calls.         
 

Skills and Abilities:

Willingness to aid contracted vendors (i.e. janitorial & snow removal) to maintain overall appearance and safety of the project;
Basic knowledge of plan review for mechanical, electrical and plumbing drawings
Proficiency of PC operation and Microsoft Office software (Share Point, Word, Excel, Adobe);
Ability to work and make decisions independently, and prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
Ability to document and follow-up;
Ability to perform physical labor, possibly in adverse conditions;
Provides an accelerated level of customer service by assisting tenants with minor maintenance items within their premises, as schedule allows;
Practices confidentiality in all communications with and regarding Western employees and tenants;
Follows generally accepted safety guidelines (OSHA) while performing all work;
 

Experience & Education:

Minimum three years’ experience in building/facility maintenance;
High School Diploma or GED and a Colorado driver’s license required
OSHA 10 – Desired, but not required
NATE Certification – Desired, but not required
EPA Universal Certification – Desired, but not required
City of Denver Stationary Engineer License – Desired, but not required
