- Assessor/Appraiser I/II
Description
Locate, identify, view, measure, record data, and appraise residential and vacant properties to establish an estimate of market value for Ad Valorem real estate tax purposes. Determines the appropriate classification in accordance with mandated guidelines and appraisal schedules, procedures and appraisal methods.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High school graduate OR equivalent;
Associate’s Degree in Real Estate, Land Use/Planning, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Construction Management, Carpentry, or closely related field (must attach transcript) OR 2 year’s work experience in real estate, real estate appraisal or related field (i.e. mortgage lending work, title work, property insurance adjuster), land use/planning, GIS, building construction, building inspection;
- 1 year education (must attach transcript) and/or work experience with Microsoft Word (Basic: Creating documents, editing, saving, printing, formatting (font size, page breaks, bold, underline, format painter, setting tabs and indents, etc.) and using proofing tools to correct spelling and grammar) and Excel (Basic: Creating, modifying and printing worksheets; create and copy simple formulas and functions (build cell formula for calculation), moving, copying, pasting, and sorting data; saving; using proofing tools to correct spelling and grammar
- Valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation for use in the field;
- Meet the educational and experience requirements set by the Minnesota State Board of Assessors and achieve the designation of Certified Minnesota Assessor (CMA), within the first 24 months of employment; must attain an Accredited Minnesota Assessor (AMA) license in compliance with Mn Statute 270C.9901
