Summary

The Sandblaster / Blasting Operator is responsible for preparing surfaces by removing rust, paint, scale, and other contaminants using blast equipment and related tools. This role involves operating the blast booth and cabinet, handling heavy equipment, and using grinding and power tools to ensure surfaces meet required specifications. While journeyman certification is not required, candidates must have relevant training and practical experience with industrial equipment and surface preparation processes.

Essential Functions

1. Remove dirt, paint, grease, and other built-up material from surfaces
2. Set up and operate a blast booth or similar equipment
3. Load and unload the blast cabinet
4. Assist with painting or coating as needed
5. Apply and remove non-skid materials as needed

1. Surface Preparation Expertise Knowledge of sandblasting techniques and the ability to properly remove rust, paint, and other surface contaminants to required specifications.
2. Equipment Operation Proficient in operating blast booths, blast cabinets, heavy equipment, grinding tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
3. Safety Awareness Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures, PPE requirements, and safe handling of equipment and materials.
4. Attention to Detail Ability to inspect surfaces before and after blasting to ensure quality standards are met.
