**Professional Land Surveyor (PLS)
Butler & Associates, Inc. – Pensacola, FL**
Butler & Associates, Inc. is a locally owned and rapidly growing land surveying firm serving residential builders, contractors, developers, and private clients throughout Northwest Florida. We are seeking a licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join our leadership team and support expanding workloads across boundary, construction, ALTA, elevation, and builder-specific surveys.
Position Summary
The Professional Land Surveyor will oversee all surveying activities, ensure compliance with Florida laws and standards, provide technical expertise to field crews, review and sign/stamp survey deliverables, and support operational growth. This role combines leadership, quality oversight, and hands-on technical work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Review, sign, and seal boundary, topographic, construction, ALTA/NSPS, mortgage, and elevation surveys.
Perform survey calculations, deed research, map review, and quality control for all deliverables.
Interpret and analyze construction plans, plats, legal descriptions, and CAD drawings.
Ensure compliance with all state surveying statutes, professional board requirements, and industry standards.
Communicate with clients, contractors, title companies, and engineers as needed.
Support business growth and process improvements as part of the leadership team.
Required Qualifications
Current and active Florida Professional Surveyor and Mapper (PLS/PSM) license.
Minimum 3–5 years of progressive surveying experience.
Strong understanding of boundary law, platting, construction staking, and residential builder workflows.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GPS, and conventional surveying equipment.
Ability to lead multiple crews and manage high-volume workload.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with large builder accounts and other residential developers.
Knowledge of Northwest Florida survey practices, soils, plats, and local requirements.
