Description
General Description
Completes various tasks in order to prepare and paint products and parts.
Duties
- Preparation of and masking/de-masking of product
- Prime/paint/coat complex products
- Measure/Examine products for conformance
- Process/drawing and Specification interpretation
- Make workflow decisions and assist Painter 1&2
- Candidate will in the absence of management make work flow and process decisions to facilitate operations.
- Candidate will assist in work flow decisions to ensure product meets the requirements of Quality, Delivery and Cost
- Candidate will evaluate work areas to identify any hazards or unsafe conditions
- Candidate will ensure all PPE is in place prior to beginning the painting or plating process
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Trade school diploma in paint/coating application and/or 10+ year's practical experience in paint/coating application.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Ability to read and interpret blue print instructions
- Ability to write procedures and processes for etching, plating and painting of product to meet Mil-Spec requirements
- Knowledge to troubleshoot paint and coating non-conformance issues and provide corrective actions
- Ability to part mark, stencil and silk screen products
- Must be capable of reading and understanding customer drawings and specifications and use that information to mask, paint and coat high reliability components
- Ability to use mathematics to calculate weights and measures required for paint mixing
- Ability to use precision measurement instruments common to the painting industry
- Must possess very good hand/eye skills and have the ability to use those skills in the painting and coating of complex products.
- Group Leader or Supervisory experience a plus.

- Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, working at heights with fall protection devices
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances
- May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools
- Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales
- Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear
- Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth
- Must be able to wear a respirator
