Overview
Lutron is hiring a Painter / Finishing Technician to join our Machine Shop team at our Global Headquarters in Coopersburg, PA. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our innovative Rapid Prototyping service, supporting both engineering and production teams with high-quality finishing work.
In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for painting and finishing prototypes that help bring cutting-edge designs to life. You'll collaborate closely with engineers and production staff, ensuring each piece meets our exacting standards for appearance and performance.

Responsibilities
Surface Preparation: Clean, sand, and prime components to ensure optimal paint adhesion and a smooth finish.
Painting & Coating: Apply paint, coatings, or finishes using spray guns, brushes, or other tools, following precise specifications for color, texture, and thickness.
Quality Control: Inspect finished parts for defects such as uneven coverage, runs, or contamination. Rework or touch up as needed to meet quality standards.
Color Matching: Mix and match paints to achieve desired colors and finishes, often working from design or engineering specifications.
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain painting tools and spray booths, ensuring they are clean, calibrated, and functioning properly.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, designers, and machinists to understand finishing requirements and timelines. Effectively communicate work order information to all levels of the Lutron engineering community
Safety & Compliance: Follow safety protocols for handling chemicals, operating equipment, and working in ventilated environments.
Support Outsourcing: Assist in coordinating the outsourcing of parts to external vendors when internal capacity or capabilities require it, ensuring quality and timeline expectations are met.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required
- 1 - 3 years hands-on work experience required; experience in / knowledge of painting/coating techniques / preparation or autobody detailing preferred
- Familiarity with 3D printing technology and its applications a plus
