- Deputy Director of Building
Description
Serves under the supervision of the Building Director, and responsible for examining plans and specifications for new construction and remodeling of existing facilities. Provides assistance to the public on interpretation and application of specific building, floodplain, electrical, and mechanical codes and regulations.
Requirements
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates of Arts or Science degree from an accredited college; and
Ten (10) years of related experience in construction related field; or
Five (5) years of progressively responsible building department experience to include supervision of staff for a municipality or similar public sector organization is preferred.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess and maintain at all times, a valid Florida Driver’s License, “Class E,” with a driving record that meets or exceeds minimum city standards, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire or promotion.
Florida DBPR Certified Building Code Administrator (Building Official)
Florida DBPR Certified Building Inspector/Plans Examiner and/or other Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, Inspector/Plans Examiner certifications
Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) Certified Floodplain
