Description
We are seeking a resume for Code Enforcement Officers for full-time positions. The Code Enforcement Officer will be responsible for local building codes, zoning laws, and ordinances. This entails inspecting buildings and local land for possible safety, health, and environmental issues. The qualified candidate will be able to successfully investigate potential code violations, appropriately distribute permits, citations, and fines, as well as interpret and research codes.
Knowledge of:
- Basic principles and practices used in the enforcement of a variety of laws, ordinances, and codes.
- Principles and methods of investigation.
- Appropriate safety, hazardous materials and fire prevention techniques and requirements.
- Basic terminology used in zoning, housing, fire codes, landlord/tenant law, and inspection warrants.
- Regulations and requirements for record keeping, report writing and court evidence documentation.
- Windows based applications including word processing.
- Discovering property ownership and zoning background.
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience performing similar duties to Code Enforcement Officer
- One or more of the following current ICC (International Code Council) and CACEO (California Association of Code Enforcement Officers)
- Certifications are not required, but highly desirable:
- CACEO Code Enforcement Officer Certification Modules I, II or III
- ICC certification as a Residential Building Inspector (B1)
- ICC certification: Property Maintenance and Housing inspection
- ICC certification: Zoning Inspector
- Possession of a current valid California Class “C” Driver’s License
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Experience in building construction, architecture, or engineering work involving knowledge of building codes is a plus
