Chief Construction Officer (CCO)
Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity — Oklahoma City, OK
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
The Chief Construction Officer leads all construction and real estate development operations across Central Oklahoma, overseeing the full lifecycle of land acquisition, neighborhood development, home construction, rehabilitation, and repair projects. This leader ensures homes are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to Habitat’s quality standards—whether built by volunteers or general contractors. The role partners closely with Homeowner Services, Volunteer Services, ReStore, Finance, and community partners to expand safe, affordable homeownership.
What You’ll Do
- Strategic & Organizational Leadership: Guide long-term construction and real estate development strategy; advise the CEO/Board on housing production targets, neighborhood development, and capital planning; build annual construction budgets and multi-year project plans; develop capacity plans aligned to growth and funding.
- Construction Management: Oversee project management for homebuilding, renovation, repair, and neighborhood development; manage volunteer-led builds and contractor-managed projects; hold GCs/subs accountable to schedule, cost, and quality; lead land acquisition, due diligence, site planning, zoning, entitlements, permitting; oversee procurement, contract negotiation, and vendor/subcontractor performance, leveraging in-kind donations where possible.
- Safety & Compliance: Own the construction safety program; ensure all sites follow OSHA and Habitat safety standards; maintain 'Competent Person' coverage; keep licenses, certifications, permits, and inspection records current.
- Financial & Project Oversight: Manage multimillion-dollar construction budgets with strong cost discipline; forecast timelines, cash flow, and resources; identify risks and mitigation strategies; support grant compliance and reporting tied to construction activity, including documentation of in-kind materials and labor.
- Team Leadership & Culture: Lead construction managers, site supervisors, project managers, and admin staff; set goals, coach, and support professional development; ensure alignment with volunteer engagement, homeowner services, and ReStore; foster a culture of safety, respect, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
- Volunteer & Homeowner Engagement: Partner with Volunteer Services to plan safe, productive build days; train and support volunteers on site; engage homebuyers and provide basic home maintenance education aligned with Habitat’s partnership philosophy.
- Community & External Relations: Collaborate with city and state agencies on planning, zoning, permitting, infrastructure, and inspections; represent Habitat in community planning discussions, housing coalitions, and development partnerships; maintain relationships with developers, neighborhood associations, utilities, and civic partners; serve as staff liaison to relevant board/volunteer committees and provide regular reports.
What You’ll Bring to the Table
- Executive-level construction leadership with the ability to scale multi-site residential operations and deliver quality, safety, and schedule.
- Deep knowledge of codes, inspections, safety requirements, and best practices for volunteer- and contractor-led builds.
- Strong financial acumen—budgeting, forecasting, cost control, cash flow—paired with rigorous project management discipline.
- Experience across land acquisition, site development, entitlements, and permitting; comfort negotiating contracts and managing vendors/subs.
- Collaborative leader and communicator who builds trust with staff, volunteers, homeowners, and community partners.
- Mission-driven mindset with a commitment to affordable, equitable housing and community revitalization.

Requirements
Your Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Architecture preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in residential construction and/or community development, including multi-site operations.
- Proven success leading large construction teams and complex project portfolios in nonprofit or volunteer-driven contexts strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with construction and project management tools and workflows.
- Valid driver’s license and regular site presence required.
