- Building Permit Services Supervisor
Description
Under general direction, plans, organizes, oversees, coordinates, and supervises the staff and operations of the building inspection and building permit functions in the Building and Fire Safety Division of the Community and Economic Development Department including the processing of building permit applications and responses to applicants, building inspections, and review of plans; provides assistance on difficult, technical, and specialized projects; ensures all relevant codes, statutes and regulations are applied and enforced; participates in the development of policies and strategies for division operations; manages the effective use of division resources to improve organizational productivity and customer service; provides complex and responsible support to the Deputy Director of Community and Economic Development-Building and Fire Safety in areas of expertise; and performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Equivalent to an associate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in building construction, architectural engineering, civil engineer, or a related field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible construction, building inspection, or plan check experience, two (2) years of which included lead or supervisory experience.
Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of, or ability to obtain by the time of appointment, an appropriate California driver’s license.
Possession of a valid Commercial Building Inspector certification issued by I.C.C. (International Code Council).
Possession of, or ability to obtain with one (1) year of appointment, a Building Plan Examiner certification issued by I.C.C. (International Code Council).
