Description
Charlotte County is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic leader to oversee its Building Code, Inspection, Permitting, and Licensing operations. This role serves as the County’s technical and administrative authority on building code interpretation, compliance, and enforcement in accordance with Florida Statutes. The position provides strategic direction, supervises professional staff, ensures consistent application of state and local codes, and promotes productive collaboration between the County and the local building industry. The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable problem-solver with strong leadership skills, a commitment to public safety, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service while supporting responsible growth and development within the community.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
An equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience.
Bachelor’s Degree
o Preferred:
- Architecture
- Civil Engineering
- Structural Engineering
Eight (8) years of experience in construction management, managing building code inspections, plans review, or permitting and licensing, to include lead or supervisory experience.
Licenses and/or Certificates:
Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
Licensed by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) as a Building Official.
