Description
To provide inspections under the Florida Building code for the construction of Volusia County Schools and to serve as the owner representative for designated projects
1. *Visit construction sites to conduct inspections to assure compliance with state and other applicable codes and regulations, including final inspection.
2. *Coordinate construction inspections with the job architect, engineers and other professionals as necessary.
3. *On designated projects, act as owner’s representative in coordinating with architects, engineers and contractors to observe the work for compliance with plans, specifications and project requirements.
4. *Observe and report the quality control and quality assurance on designated school construction projects.
5. *Prepare daily reports, weekly summary reports, construction updates as required, and review all claims, change orders and pay requests for correctness.
6. *Document activities pertaining to construction standards and codes.
7. *Act as resource to school personnel in use of new facilities.
8. *Maintain current required licenses.
9. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director, New Construction and Inspections.
Requirements
"APPLICANT SHALL HAVE A CURRENT FLORIDA BUILDING INSPECTOR LICENSE"
High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent; Associate degree or higher in a construction related field preferred
Five (5) years' experience as an architect’s representative, building inspector, manager of multiple commercial or institutional construction projects Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License
Working knowledge and understanding of Florida State Requirements for Educational Facilities
Working knowledge and understanding of the Florida Building Codes and development regulations
Understanding of building construction materials, procedures, practices, methods and construction documents and standards
Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications
Ability to write clear and concise reports and correspondence
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with design professionals, contractors, school administrators, staff members and the general public
Ability to exercise judgement and decision making in interpreting and applying laws, rules, regulations, and policies
Skillful in analyzing, evaluating and solving problems
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
Knowledge of computer applications
