Carnegie Mellon School of Drama seeks individuals with scenery fabrication skills to work alongside student technicians and managers in the creation of scenery for School of Drama productions. This is an hourly position, with fluctuating hours from week to week. Individual must be able to read drawings and work unsupervised. Fabrication position requires carpentry, metals, and rigging skills. Other shop techniques are a bonus. Individuals may also be called upon to assist installing productions in our theatre spaces. Requires applied knowledge of materials handling, installation & assembly, and theatrical counterweight rigging practices. Must be able and plan, organize, and implement scenic construction from technical design draftings. Must be proficient in standard theatre carpentry techniques including carpentry, welding, and rigging in a counterweight fly system.
This position is fixed in duration approximately ending on 5/14/12017. Scheduled weekly hours are approximately 10 hours per week. Hours will vary according to production schedule needs. Evening and weekend hours possible.
