POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Executive Director of Physical Plant is an exempt position reporting directly to Vice President of Administrative Services and serves as the chief administrator of the Facilities Operations and Capital Projects Departments which includes Maintenance services, Custodial services, Grounds, Sustainability, and Capital Planning.
This position directs maintenance, grounds, custodial, sustainability and capital projects operations of the college. The Executive Director oversees, develops and monitors budgets for each of the areas and for utilities needs of the campus. The Executive Director is the principal campus coordinator with the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges' capital budget office and the state Department of General Administration in administering capital and construction projects.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSProvides leadership and direction for efficient campus operations including supervision of the departments of sustainability, capital projects, grounds, maintenance (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, lock smithing, and HVAC operations), warehousing, mail services, custodial and equipment maintenance.
Oversees the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, evaluation and development of supervisors for Grounds, Sustainability, Capital Projects, Custodial, Maintenance, and Warehouse. Supervises safety preparation and training for facilities staff and advises on campus safety program. Serves on various committees. Oversees supervisor training of subordinate staff in all Physical Plant units. Manage operating budgets for all units in Physical Plant.
