Requirements include a relevant four-year degree from an appropriately accredited college or university with at least 10 years of progressive experience in construction management, including supervisory or managerial experience. Dynamic and creative leadership, initiative, vision, and superior communication skills with a proven record of exception customer service and collaboration with campus leadership and other key stakeholders is vital.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Management reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs and provides stewardship of approximately 5,188,567 square feet of teaching, learning and living space through leadership for planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of all University facilities, utility systems, and campus infrastructure. Facilities departments include, Environmental Services, Landscaping and Grounds, Motor Pool, HVAC and Controls, Carpentry and Masonry, Preventive Maintenance, Mechanical Shop, Lock Shop, Paint Shop, Electrical Shop, Moving and Zone Maintenance, Planning Design and Construction (major capital construction), Project Management for construction projects under $500,000, Energy Management and Facilities Administrative Services, comprising a total staff of 275 employees.
The Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Management is responsible for managing all construction and renovation activities, including:
-Developing requests for proposals for specific capital improvement projects-Evaluating bids and recommending contractors-Contracting for construction-Monitoring contract compliance-Approving all contract-related expenditures
The Associate Vice Chancellor for Facilities Management is responsible for all preventive and remedial maintenance of University facilities administered through the Physical Plant Director and management of University-owned real property.
The University is situated on 1,732 acres with 111buildings comprising 5,188,567 square feet. Approximately 160 acres of the campus has been designated a Millennial Campus property the North Carolina Board of Governors of Higher Education.
The successful candidate will be an experienced leader with a demonstrated record of expertise in various aspects of facilities operations including project management and capital construction; budget management, modeling and benchmarking; and facilities management information systems with the ability to build effective teams and work through others to accomplish outcomes.
