Job Description: ASSISTANT MANAGER, Facilities-Off-Site Facilities and Operations, to oversee--in partnership with the manager--Off-Site Facilities' functions, i.e., snow removal, landscaping, cleaning, security, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, HVACR, carpentry, general repair services, and planning and scheduling. The Off-Site division supports various sites within Massachusetts and ensures systems are operating efficiently and reliably. Will provide, establish, and manage direction of several key areas of the Off-Site organization; collaborate with the manager on providing broader oversight of the department budget, staff development, labor relations, and employee engagement; work with the manager to define, measure, and advance department productivity and quality; develop collaborations that reduce rework, increase customer satisfaction, and drive accountability at all levels; redefine and implement a planning and quality assurance/control program that ensures schedules, repairs, and inspections are met; manage projects and oversee new installations; assist in overseeing the budget pertaining to programs and contracts; and participate in departmental or Institute-wide groups/committees.
Job Requirements: REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; experience related to the electrical/mechanical/structural trades and/or building construction in an educational or similar institution; strong working knowledge of electrical power, distribution, and emergency power back-up systems; experience with labor relations and conflict resolution, customer service, process improvement, decision-making, staffing, planning, analyzing information, developing standards, and emphasizing excellence; initiative; strong written and oral communication skills; computer literacy; and working knowledge of drawings, plans, and specifications. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationship with diverse constituencies; plan, coordinate, analyze, execute, and document specific administrative and management functions; prioritize; meet deadlines; and remain calm under pressure.
