Serves as member of the Office for the Arts at Harvard (OFA) technical / production staff, which maintains and oversees operations of Agassiz Theatre and collaborates with the Theater, Dance, & Media (TDM) concentration, the Harvard Dance Center, and undergraduate residential units ("The Houses") in ensuring viability, safety, and success of multiple venues for performance and teaching.
Responsibilities include: assisting in technical aspects of productions including, but not limited to, building sets, hanging and focusing lights; attending and sometimes supervising load-ins, technical rehearsals, performances and strikes; working with rigging, sound, lighting, projection and related production equipment; assisting students in theater production; working with visiting artists and designers; helping to maintain production supplies; maintaining a safe environment for artists, staff, students and audience; attending Office for the Arts at Harvard meetings as needed and interfacing with other Office for the Arts staff. Works closely with Technical Director to advance program goals. Contributes to Theater and Dance programs by accomplishing related duties as required. Reports to Technical Director for College Theater.
This is a full-time, benefits eligible position. 35 hours per week, September 1-June 20 [11 weeks unpaid]. Reports to Technical Director for College Theater.

The Office for the Arts is a unit within Harvard College, Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
Salary Grade: 054
Union: 55 - Hvd Union Cler & Tech Workers
BA/BFA preferred or equivalent work experience. Three years of experience in technical and production management. Ability to work flexible hours and weekends; Must work independently; Proven knowledge of production processes and procedures; Attention to matters of health and safety.
Comfort and ability to work with and advise college undergraduates as well as professional artists and technicians; carpentry skills; ability to read and interpret construction drawings; familiarity with shop tools and maintenance; basic Electrician skills; ability to read lighting plots and related paperwork; over-head rigging experience (including counterweight systems); sound engineering and connectivity skills; projection skills. Ability to lift 50 lbs and work from heights.
