OSU-Cascades is seeking an Associate Director of Facilities and Operations. This is a full-time 1.0 FTE, 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the OSU-Cascades Associate Vice President, Finance and Strategic Planning.
The purpose of this position is to oversee the OSU-Cascades facilities and operations. Facilities and operations leadership includes maintenance, minor construction such as renovations to campus facilities, engineering, utilities, building and ground systems, built environment renewal, custodial, grounds, mail services, building access and controls, and continuous stewardship of campus physical facilities.
The Associate Director reports directly to the Associate Vice President of Finance and Strategic Planning. This is a critical leadership position for the OSU-Cascades campus and imperative for the support of the OSU-Cascades Strategic Plan including critical pillars of success such as sustainability and resilience, innovation and health and wellness. The Associate Director is responsible for management of personnel, finances, equipment, policies and procedures, and the facilities strategic plan.
OSU-Cascades, located in Bend, Ore., is a branch campus of Oregon State University. Established in 2001, the university currently enrolls more than 1,100 students in bachelor's and master's degree programs. The campus expanded to a four-year university in 2015, and opened its new campus in 2016. The branch campus has ambitious enrollment goals to reach 3,000 to 5,000 students by 2025. OSU-Cascades is engaged in building a culturally diverse and community-centric educational environment.
The anticipated start date is November 1, 2017.
Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):
Typically requires Bachelor's degree in field related to assigned responsibilities. 3 years of management and supervisory experience in facilities and operations for a large, complex organization.
A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Public Administration, Business or other closely related field; OR 10 years of relevant experience.
A minimum of five years' supervisory experience, including the ability to lead, organize, coordinate and supervise a diverse staff, including crafts personnel, building service workers, custodians and groundskeepers.
Considerable recent applicable experience in facilities management.
Proven knowledge of, and familiarity with carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC and other maintenance skills as shown by prior job experience.
Demonstrated experience configuring, supporting and trouble-shooting facilities related software and hardware (e.g. building controls, lighting, access controls, irrigation, key boxes).
Sound judgment, anticipatory skills, confidentiality, negotiation, problem solving, excellent organization, communication and customer service skills.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months. Offers of employment are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications including the Criminal History Check Requirement.
This position requires driving a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the University; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per OSU Standard 576-056-0000 et seq. Offers of employment are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications including the Motor Vehicle Check Requirement.
This position is deemed essential and the incumbent is expected to report to work during inclement weather, emergency and other University work curtailments or closures.
Working Schedule: 8:00 am to 5:00: pm plus any emergency and on call responses. (Shift and/or work assignment may be changed based on operational needs. We are a seven day a week operation so weekends and holiday work may be required).
Employee carries a cell phone during all working hours.The employee in this position will often be required to lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and pushing or pulling carts weighing up to 50 pounds.
Salary (Minimum): $81,168
Salary (Maximum): $142,104
Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with skills, education, and experience.
